In 2025 I created a collage each month using ink drawing, paper cutting / tearing and painted elements. I created something that spoke to each month in some way, building up a visual diary of the year as it unfolded.

Here are the collages, along with some behind-the-scenes / process videos. #bts #wip

A full year of monthly calendar collage illustrations…

January: Tube Trains and Experimental Diets

January always has a certain smell in a packed tube carriage, where the impact of all those newfound experimental New Year’s diets is most felt.

February: Thick Gloves and Valentines

It’s cold outside, but you have a valentines’ card from your mum to keep you warm. My not-so-secret admirer from as young as I can remember, clever puns, always written out in her signature rich brown ink.

March: PARTEEEEEE!!!

There is nothing quite like the chaos and joy of a 5th birthday party!

April - Spring Has Sprung

May - The Big Splash

The French do camping in style! Wood cabins, mini town centres, waterparks..

June - Run Baby Run

I exhibited my work for the ‘Calendar Collage’ project so far in the local cafe Bread & Oregano throughout July.

July - Big Hitters

I’ve been sketching and drawing players at Wimbledon since I was a teenager. Something about the clean, green grass, and the satisfying sound of a tennis ball being whopped…

August - Bingo!

A last minute hop to New Romney, my sister and I, and our combined 5 children had a blast playing bingo and watching a one-woman Steps tribute act.

September - Rainy School Scoots

Scooting back to school, in the rain rain and more rain.

October - All Hallows’ Eve

If the pumpkin light’s on, there’s somebody home…

November - Beach Walks

I ran a series of workshops for children in stop-motion in Pembrokeshire last winter. The Newport Boat Club, where the workshops took place, was right on the edge of the coast, surrounded by sea.

My sister came with me for one of the trips and we stayed a couple of days. We enjoyed a lively open mic night at a local cafe, and a rugged coastal walk the next morning before the rain started.

December - Peter and Wendy

We visited the Neverland immersive Peter Pan experience at Kenwood House, Hampstead Heath on Boxing Day

The ‘making of’ my December collage illustration.
