I live illustrated some short talks on business, technology and ecology from TED Explains.
The first is a short talk from Rebecca Okamoto: ‘How to introduce yourself - and get hired’. Rebecca talks about the best way to answer the question ‘tell me about yourself’, in a way that keeps people interested, and leads to new business opportunities.
The second is from Vlad Tenev: ‘AI is coming for your job. Now what?’. Vlad discusses the history of work, and how historically most jobs that were once considered commonplace have now disappeared. He reminds us that new jobs have always been created to fill the void, often requiring less time and effort from humans, and that in all likelihood the new jobs that appear in the AI age will seem more than ever like ‘leisure’ by older generations, rather than work at all.
And the third is from Yi Li: ‘The missing piece in climate action (it's not what you think)’. Yi discusses co-founding Frameworks, a business on a mission to build 1,000 climate-smart farms across Kenya, and her realisation that becoming profitable was the only way that her project, and wider climate solutions, could be effective.
